Sketchbook Close Ups #1: My Girls

Image
Hello there Cyber Friends, I hope everyone is having a fabulous day so far! Today I wanted to give you a look into one of my sketchbooks (I am using two at the moment), and show you some of my favorite pieces; My girls. I have been trying to find "my style" for my whole life. I have always been good at mimicking other people's style; As a kid I would redraw comic panels in larger sizes. But I have been searching for my own style for as long as I can remember. So this is something that I have been concentrating on more and more lately, and I have found a particular look that I really love to draw. I do still draw in several different styles, as a lot of artists do. However my portraits are something I am really proud of, and I'd love to share them with you all. These are all girls I have found on the Instagram Radar page (the front of the "Search" page on Instagram). That's a really great place to find head shots if that is the sort of thing you like t

Another Failed Attempt?

Yes, hello, I am back over here at PAJE. It's a slight bummer but at the same time a blessing, and I'll explain all that in a second. First off I just wanted to say a big sorry for any confusion this is causing; making up my mind has not been a thing I've been able to do the past year or two. Second, I wanted to say an even bigger THANK YOU to all those that are enjoying my posts, following me to my various platforms, and generally support me and what I do. You guys make everything worth it in the end, so thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart. With that being said, let's get onto the changes and what's going on. So, Planet Sugar. Another failed attempt at my own website? Yes and no. It worked, and worked well (thank god for pre-made layouts, amirite?). I spent 18 hours straight for 4 days working on it, so it wasn't for lack of trying. At the end I had over one thousand unique visits, and I was getting traffic in the blog. The store worked great, ever

My Love Affair With Trying To Love Coffee

It is no secret that I love pop. Soda. Soft drinks. Whatever you want to call them, I have a very unhealthy habit of drinking as many as I can afford that day. I know they’re not good for me, I know what they are doing to me, but I can’t get myself to stop. And really not for lack of trying. I’ve tried weaning myself off, I’ve tried cold turkey. I’ve tried alternatives like sparkling water, infused waters, sports drinks. Anything that could at least break that habit. Nothing works. So I decided to try the only thing I haven’t; coffee. To know me is to know that I am short, talkative, and I hate coffee. I honestly can’t even take the smell of coffee. But oh, how I wish I could drink it. I’ve dabbled in coffee like drinks; Mixing hot chocolate, and every cappuccino flavor they had in the machine, trying to find a balance I could handle (I never could). I would order a triple chip frappuccino at Starbucks, and wuss out half way through. Of course I would always order extra whip, don’

Across the Street: Watercolor Painting

Some blog posts will be lacking. This is one of those blog posts. I will do my best, and have a plan to try and prepare for next month, but I only get so much time.      If you are a subscriber of mine, you probably know, but if you're new, let me tell you a little more about myself.       I have PMDD. Which stands for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, and it is a severe version of PMS. This is something I battle with monthly, for roughly 15 days, and it really does have a mind of it's own. I can become an entirely different person, my mind will make up strange and demented things. Sometimes I can't tell I'm on Earth.     There's so much more to it, so I'll link the videos I have done on it. Maybe in another post I can talk about some recent experiences and how I've been coping as of late. Living with PMDD and part of my ED story (TW): https://youtu.be/zY9JNi9vnRM Tips to Living with PMDD: https://youtu.be/KDKOYKKHemw      So with that said, I am

OOTD #2: Athletic Leisure

Image
Today's #OOTD has got to be one of my top favorite outfits. Yes, I am the girl that wears leggings as pants because, well, they're pants. I do indeed live in leggings and yoga pants, and these are probably my favorite pair (along with the pink ones I have in the same style) for summer time. They're so comfortable, cute, and my favorite part; they suck everything in real nice. They also sort of help conceal everything, or at least I like to think they do. Either way, I love the compression aspect of these types of leggings.

Among the Trees: Water Color

Image
Click to enlarge      There are few things I like to draw more than trees. I was that weird kid that would go outside and tell her favorite tree how her day went. And when I worked for a campground for several years, I spent a lot of time with trees; caring for trees, sketching the same trees, on the same beach, every summer. I've always been in love with trees- Now whether that came naturally, or came from my father's own love and original profession of being a landscaper, is up for debate. What I do know is that tree studies are my favorite studies. So you will probably see many tree paintings in the future.

OOTD #1 : Flowy Artist

Image
I want to introduce OOTDs to my blog. Here's how I see it; Anything can be considered art if there was a thought and some time put into something. If someone felt something while making something, or someone else feels something looking at it, you could probably consider it art. And while there is painting, and drawing, sculpture, and everything else you can think of, one of my favorite art forms is fashion.      I was largely into fashion as a teen, and loved to try new ways of wearing things, trying new styles, and making people take a second look. Be it for a good reason, or negative; as long as the attention was on my outfit, I was happy. As I got older, fashion started to take a back seat. I at one point had an endless closet at my fingertips (a donation only thrift store), and still, my fashion was lacking. It was basic, boring, and I didn't try. I'm not saying that at this very moment I'm wearing a disco ball covered in floral arrangements, but I a

Life is Better At Camp: Water Color

Image
I have always very much enjoyed traditional water colors; I taught myself how to use them when I was about 16 years old, and fell in love with them as my favorite form of paint. I've dabbled in acrylic, and oil, but there's something about water color. The way that it moves, the way that it dries, and how versatile it can be. The colors can be as translucent or as deep as you want, and that sort of freedom really draws me to watercolor.      Currently however, I have been really interested in watercolor pencils in particular. I never really understood them or how to use them, and I still am not sure I'm even using them "the right way" (there's no such thing when it comes to art, really). Either way though, I have been having a great time experimenting and seeing what they can do. I am addicted to the feeling of taking a sketchy looking mess, and turning it into a beautiful watercolor with depth, and feeling just by adding some water. They really ar

Louis Vuitton Mirror Mirror Gold Limited Edition PM Agenda

     First of all, WELCOME to my blog, PAJE.! My name is Liz Drake, and I am a 29 year old artist and YouTuber. I have tried this blog thing numerous times, and I thought why not try it again. There are some things I'd rather post like this about, than to post an entire video. I hope to make this blog a place for reviews, close ups of art, works in progress, and everything else that crosses my mind.      PAJE. stands for Planners Art Journals Everyday, which is basically my life. I am a huge #plannergirl , and have been creating art and using journals since I could hold a pen. Art is something I have always been passionate about, and I hope this blog will eventually reflect some of that--as well as the rest of my personality, here and there.      Now to get on to the point of this first blog post... The actual love and light of my life... My limited edition Louis Vuitton PM Agenda from the Mirror Mirror collection in Gold;
