Sketchbook Close Ups #1: My Girls

Image
Hello there Cyber Friends, I hope everyone is having a fabulous day so far! Today I wanted to give you a look into one of my sketchbooks (I am using two at the moment), and show you some of my favorite pieces; My girls. I have been trying to find "my style" for my whole life. I have always been good at mimicking other people's style; As a kid I would redraw comic panels in larger sizes. But I have been searching for my own style for as long as I can remember. So this is something that I have been concentrating on more and more lately, and I have found a particular look that I really love to draw. I do still draw in several different styles, as a lot of artists do. However my portraits are something I am really proud of, and I'd love to share them with you all. These are all girls I have found on the Instagram Radar page (the front of the "Search" page on Instagram). That's a really great place to find head shots if that is the sort of thing you like t...

Across the Street: Watercolor Painting

Some blog posts will be lacking. This is one of those blog posts. I will do my best, and have a plan to try and prepare for next month, but I only get so much time.      If you are a subscriber of mine, you probably know, but if you're new, let me tell you a little more about myself.       I have PMDD. Which stands for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, and it is a severe version of PMS. This is something I battle with monthly, for roughly 15 days, and it really does have a mind of it's own. I can become an entirely different person, my mind will make up strange and demented things. Sometimes I can't tell I'm on Earth.     There's so much more to it, so I'll link the videos I have done on it. Maybe in another post I can talk about some recent experiences and how I've been coping as of late. Life is Better At Camp: Water Color

Image
I have always very much enjoyed traditional water colors; I taught myself how to use them when I was about 16 years old, and fell in love with them as my favorite form of paint. I've dabbled in acrylic, and oil, but there's something about water color. The way that it moves, the way that it dries, and how versatile it can be. The colors can be as translucent or as deep as you want, and that sort of freedom really draws me to watercolor.      Currently however, I have been really interested in watercolor pencils in particular. I never really understood them or how to use them, and I still am not sure I'm even using them "the right way" (there's no such thing when it comes to art, really). Either way though, I have been having a great time experimenting and seeing what they can do. I am addicted to the feeling of taking a sketchy looking mess, and turning it into a beautiful watercolor with depth, and feeling just by adding some water. They really...
